How to pamper yourself when you’re not feeling your best

We might not be feeling our best when we’re physically ill, going through a breakup, grieving a loved one, feeling burnt out, or simply just feeling down. It’s safe to say we’ve all been through this at some point in our lives, especially since 2020…

Recently I was feeling under the weather and I realized there were simple self care activities I could do to feel better. Olalla, Tap Tap Organics Social Media Assistant, also just went through a similar situation. So we wanted to share a bit more about our experience, hoping it’ll help others as well.

Why is Self Care Important?

Believe it or not, personal care and hygiene is a basic survival skill. Jessie Krebs, Wilderness survival expert and former Air Force SERE, created a Wilderness Survival MasterClass. She points out that there’s something very calming about dedicating time to taking care of ourselves. She lists our health and personal hygiene as one of our five basic survival needs.

Luckily, it’s unlikely we’re literally lost in the wilderness! We are probably in the comfort of our own home. And while some things might be out of our control, simple acts of personal care can give us the mental and emotional grounding that we need to get through a rough patch.

These are our favorite ways of pampering ourselves when we’re not feeling our best.

1| Take a shower, use your favorite body scrub that you never have time for. Follow up with your favorite body spray or perfume.
